Beginner Lesson Plan
Warm up:
-Greet and Introduce
-Attendance
-Warm Up: Color game, be creative with the way students get to the colors (bear crawl, crab walk, hop on foot, etc.)
-Circuit: Explain QUICK
Cartwheels (3 MINUTES ON TIMER)
Green- Cartwheel across blue line
Red- Cartwheel to handstand against blue block (if student is nervous have them start with hands on floor and walk feet up wall)
Orange- Cartwheel with hands on yellow rainbow
Yellow- Cartwheel up red mini wedge (hands at very top feet land on floor)
Blue- Cartwheel over red block (hands on red)
Green- Cartwheel over nugget block (start in lunge on one side, reach hands over block and finish on opposite side)
Yellow- Cartwheel with hula hoops (favorite foot goes inside red hoop, hands on floor, tricky foot lands in purple)
Handstands (3 MINUTES ON TIMER)
Green- handstand walk sideways across blue line (monkey tail walk if HS walk is too hard)
Red- Cartwheel to handstand against blue block (if student is nervous have them start with hands on floor and walk feet up wall)
Orange- Handstand with hands on yellow rainbow
Blue- Handstand with hands at bottom of red wedge (if too easy have students try falling to a bridge)
Yellow- Handstand snap down with hands on red block
Green- Handstand over blue nugget block (come back down in a lunge, goal is to do it without touching the block)
Yellow- Handstand with tricky foot in red hoop, favorite foot in-between the hoops, and hands inside the purple hoop
First 8 Stations: BACK BENDS AND TICK TOKS (1:50 on timer)
1. Green- Bridge walk across the blue line (one and foot on each side of the line)
2. Red- Back bend down the wall (walk hands down blue block)
3. Orange- Knee back bend (start from knees arch back till hands touch try to sit back up)
4. Yellow- (SPOTTED) Back bends on mini red wedge
5. Blue - (SPOTTED) Tick toks with red block (hands on floor feet on wedge)
6. Green- Bridge over blue nugget block (if too easy student can work on lifting one leg in the air)
7. Purple - (TRAMPOLINE) working on connecting 3 position jumps in a row with no extra jumps (Tuck, straddle, pike)
8. Yellow- Bridge hops/walks (student starts with feet in red hoop, does 5 hops, then tries to walk feet around to purple hoop, if too hard have student come down in between)
8 Stations: FORWARD ROLLS AND BACKWARD ROLLS (1:50 on timer)
1. Green - Fwd roll across blue line (if too easy have them try straddle or pike rolls)
2. Red- Start with butt/legs against blue block in either a pike or straddle shape keeping legs straight have student fwd roll away from the block
3. Orange- Fwd roll with hands/back of neck on yellow rainbow
4. Yellow- Fwd roll up mini red wedge
5. Blue - Backwards roll across red block (long ways)
6. Green- Backwards roll with nugget (start sitting with back on top of the nugget, student then pulls legs over in a tuck shape and lands on feet)
7. Purple- (TRAMPOLINE) Seat drops and doggy drops
8. Yellow- (SPOTTED) backward rolls (move hoops out of the way and spot on red carpet)
